For a person with diabetes to lead a normal life and reduce as much as possible the risk of developing a complication, it is necessary to control the disease that means, keeping the glycemia in physiological levels (in fast between 80 and 110 mg/dl and after meal levels inferior to 140 mg/dl).
But to keep the diabetes be it I, II or gestational and controlled, it is necessary to fallow a diet, exercise and the adequate therapeutic use of insulin when required for treatment
It is also important to perform a few tests, such as controlling dangerous glycemia, glycolsylated hemoglobin and glycols, besides other laboratory exams to evaluate the dyslipidemia, kidney functions and blood pressure.
Exercise is fundamental for controlling the diabetes. This is because it helps to keep the glycemia in desired levels, maintaining the body weight, and controlling the dyslipidemia, among other benefits;
To have a group of specialists available is also very important, therapeutic orientation is fundamental for handling the diabetes. It is good to keep in mind that, to have hypoglycemia once in awhile is normal; it keeps the diabetes under control. But it is possible to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia by eating properly and taking the adequate medication.
